From the recording All I Ever Wanted

(Songs come to you in strange places sometimes.  I was sitting in a little church getting ready to sing the special music, when the lyrics to the chorus of this song starting coming to me.  I wrote it down just before I got up to sing.  By the time I drove home from church, the lyrics were done.  I pulled Tom in to help with the musical feel.)

Lyrics

I used to wish on every meteor showerOne shooting star was not enough for meI used to search for skies wrapped in rainbowsOne pot of gold was not enough for my dreamsAll I ever wanted was everything, everythingAll I ever wantedAll I ever wanted was everythingTill all I ever wanted was youI kissed a thousand frogs looking for charmingMy mama said it was the thing to doI’d close my eyes just like a kid at ChristmasImagine my surprise when I kissed youAll I ever wanted was everything, everythingAll I ever wantedAll I ever wanted was everythingTill all I ever wanted was youI don’t need picket fencesI don’t need diamond ringsI don’t need anything No anything no anythingBut you…All I ever wanted was everything, everythingAll I ever wantedAll I ever wanted was everythingTill all I ever wanted was you
